We traveled to Washington, D.C., to raise awareness of mental health causes. I captured this photo after a long, extremely hot and humid day of rallying.
During a particularly trying night, I boarded the NJ Transit train into New York City to calm my thoughts. I sat beside a Roman Catholic newspaper on the adjacent seat. I opened the paper to this passage. The message above has guided me since.
I captured this photo at a museum exhibition of mental health care, past and present. This exhibit showcases the roles of arts and crafts and vocational pursuits in mental health treatment. The mosaic pictured above is analogous to the arts and crafts groups currently run by mental health workers. The wheat, representing production, and woven articles of furniture may be analogous to today’s supported employment initiatives.
Lucy and Sais are pictured above. Sais visited the center often to seek Lucy’s advice.
